Ask a question:

Where is the Horticopia Data folder located?

Solution

The Horticopia Data is where all your personal information is kept. This includes any authoring changes you have made and Garden Studio data. If you need to work with this folder, use the Setup tab of the Control Panel. Use this tab if you are trying to back up theHorticopia Data folder, moving it or trying to import it. If you are trying to find the location of the folder, use the directions below.

The location of the Horticopia Data folder partially depends on what version of HORTICOPIA® Professional you have.

For version V (Scroll down for information pertaining to version IV)

- The path of the Horticopia Data folder can be found by using the System Parameters command. This command can be accessed in two ways:

  • From within the Professional, go to the Help menu and select "System Parameters".
  • From the Control Panel, go to the General tab and click on the button that says "Show System Parameters".

- Once you have accessed the System Parameters using one of the above methods, a document should pop up with various pieces of information pertaining to Horticopia on it. In the "Directories and Paths" section of this document you will find a line the says "Horticopia Data Path". This will give you the location of the Horticopia Data folder.

You can also open the HORTICOPIA Control Panel. Then, on the Setup tab, select Open Horticopia Data Folder

For version IV, there are a couple of standard locations.

- If you have done a standard installation, the default location for the Horticopia Data folder is in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data (Note: The Application Data folder is hidden by Windows by default. Go to the Folder Options window in the Tools menu of Windows Explorer to change this.).

- If you have done a server installation, the Horticopia Data folder's default location is directly inside the Horticopia folder.

Version IV of Professional allows you to specify a path for the Horticopia Data folder. Thus it can be located virtually anywhere. If you still cannot find your Horticopia Data folder, there is a way to check its location:

1. Browse to the Horticopia folder and look inside it.
2. Open the HortData folder found inside the Horticopia folder.
3. Inside the HortData folder you will find a file named Settings.ini. If you open this file with Notepad, there will be a line in the file that reads [DataPath]. Below this you will see a line that reads "path=_______". There are three cases.

  • If there is nothing to the right of the equals sign, then the Horticopia Data folder is located directly inside the Horticopia folder.
  • If "application" is written to the right of the equals sign, then the Horticopia Data folder is in the Application Data folder as described above.

If there is a path to the right of the equals sign, then the Horticopia Data folder is located at that path.
